Saints Peter and Paul Life Teen Mission statement:
Saints Peter and Paul Life Teen Program is a Eucharist-centered Catholic program for high school teens. By sharing the truth of our Church and facilitating powerful encounters with Christ, we help teenagers grow in knowledge of our faith, while transforming their hearts to help them passionately live out the gospel by serving and loving others. Through fellowship, teaching and the development of strong relationships, the teens, their families and the Parish community grow closer to one another and Christ, knowing that we walk this journey together.
What makes it work?:
Life Teen is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic spirituality and by creating widespread opportunities for teens to grow in their faith. Life Teen believes that this Eucharist-centered ministry has the power to transform teens, transform parishes, and transform culture. Above all, Jesus Christ is at the center of who we are and of all that we do.
Life Teen has a cool Catholic website for teenagers, lifeteen.com. Life Teen is on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Life Teen has young adult missionaries in Georgia, Arizona, and Germany. Life Teen has several camps throughout the United States where Teens can have fun, experience nature and grow closer to Christ.
Life Teen’s parish-based ministry for high school teenagers is used by over 1100 Catholic parishes around the world. In 2003, Life Teen launched a national Edge ministry for middle school kids, which is now used by almost 600 parishes.

Saints Peter & Paul Life Teen:
Saints Peter & Paul has been a Life Teen parish since 1997. Our Life Teen Program has two basic “seasons”: school and summer. During school, Life Teen is built around the 6:00 p.m. Life Teen Mass on Sunday. During the Mass, Life Teen members sit together in the front of the Church near the Life Teen Band. Teens and their families are encouraged to be actively involved in the Mass as Ushers, Greeters, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Commentators, Altar Servers, Gift Bearers and Musicians. After Mass everyone moves to Madonna Hall for the Life Night. Life Nights involve games, skits, discussions, prayer services and many different experiences.
The Life Night may include teachings of the Church, discussions about issues facing Teens, social activities and/or service projects. Each night is geared for having fun, actively engaging the Teens, making friends, and growing closer to Christ. At the end of each Life Night the Teens share a meal and fellowship with each other. Life Nights usually start about 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. During the school year there is a retreat each semester. For a weekend we get away to the mountains of Patagonia, the hills of Sierra Vista, the tall pines of the White Mountains or the desert beauty of Oracle.
The school “season” is also when we prepare Teens for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Classes start in September and run through December. They are usually held on Tuesday nights in Madonna Hall. The Confirmation Mass is then celebrated in January or February.
During the summer “season” we move most activities to Saturday Nights, but still celebrate Mass together at the 6:00 p.m. Life Teen Mass on Sundays. Our summer activities vary widely, such as trips to the beach, Disneyland, and Magic Mountain, camping, movies, lock-ins, bowling, and water parks to name just a few!
We have also joined with millions of young people from around the world at several World Youth Day (WYD) conferences and the accompanying Days in the Diocese. We travelled to Florence and Rome, Italy in 2000; Toronto, Canada and New York City, United States in 2002; Munich and Cologne, Germany in 2005; and Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia in 2008 , Madrid, Spain in August of 2011, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2013. We are currently preparing for WORLD YOUTH DAY 2016 in KRAKÓW, POLAND!!! JOIN US!!
Providing teens and their parents with a liturgy geared towards their spiritual needs is at the heart of Life Teen's effectiveness. The program educates by presenting the truth in the context of the teachings and theology of the Catholic Church. This is accomplished through transformation prayer experiences, discussions, and the sharing of personal experiences. Teens are given the opportunity to become an integral part of the parish through service, outreach, and social gatherings.
The media used to enhance the teens' experience of community worship is artistically worthy, appropriate, and appealing to them. Music and the art forms provide crucial links to the teens and the assembly and the liturgy they share together.
Like all teenagers, the teens of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Community face many pressures and difficult social choices. Depression, drugs, broken homes, shattered relationships, and extreme materialism are facts of life for today's high school teens. Life Teen provides sanctuary, hope, and acceptance for teens at a time in their lives when all of these positive elements can seem in very short supply.
Again, the ministry centers on Christ in the Eucharist celebrated each week at the 6:00 p.m. Life Teen Mass and the Life Nigh. In addition, during the week, The teens and Core Team often meet to continue learning and studying together.
In addition to the semester retreats, Life Teen offers many opportunities for meaningful Christian service throughout the parish and the community as a whole. Life Teen also offers many summer activities, which includes various youth conferences, summer camps, and mission trips as well as many other recreational trips throughout the year.
The recipients of all of this labor of love are the teens. Life Teen provides an opportunity for them to feel welcomed and loved. They are given a constructive, loving, positive alternative to many of the negative, destructive activities of contemporary society. As a result of Life Teen, teens can experience real joy and find their lives transformed forever.
Life Teen Mass:
The Life Teen Mass takes place every Sunday at 6:00pm and is the core of the program providing teens and their families with a liturgy geared toward their spiritual needs. The Life Teen Mass requires "full and active participation of the entire community". The goal is for the Mass, homily and music to be directed to the teens and their families. The teens are encouraged to take active roles in the ministries at the Mass specifically, as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Sacristans and Hospitality. Through the Life Teen Mass the teens are able to experience the unconditional love of Christ and the miracle of the Eucharist!
Life Teen Nights:
Life Nights follow the Life Teen Mass every Sunday night and provide an opportunity for teens to go even deeper in their faith in a fun, safe, and comfortable environment! Through interactive teachings, peer witness talks, skits, videos, interactive discussions and games the teens learn more about the teachings of Christ and His Church as well as the issues facing teens today and how to deal with them. These nights are lovingly designed by our young adult Core team with input from the teens and guidance from Father Crino and our Youth Minister, Anne Morales. Come see what these nights are all about!!
